Would do so much more for the readers to actually describe the shop somewhat, could still say it was like an eccentric shop from a film or whatever. As well as the inconsistency you point out - maybe passable the musical hating character would know the shop through cultural osmosis but the actual name? And would it really spring to mind? But as well as that it’s such a exclusive, niche and actually quite lazy allusion. Wow, she just can’t help herself can she. Will have to be Nothing Short of Magic because none of the rest have the required amount of syllables
Bets on Carrie naming at least one future book after one of these? Her books are Cloud Walking, A Little Ray of Hope, Nothing Short of Magic, The Pleasure Is All Mine, and The Day The Darkness Left. Oh, Luna doesn't like musicals but knows enough that the shop feels like "the kind, less murderous version of Mushnik and Son from Little Shop of Horrors". She also can't keep consistency in her characters. <-literally what Wendy says about it.ĭue to this character feeling so self insert the whole chapter just seems like Carrie being up her own arse and singing her own praises about being an author and having no privacy. THEN because apparently all the books this woman has to sell are boring or classics, she gifts her scrap journal, one of those things Carrie loves making after "seeing someone online doing it and thought give it a go".
You know, Carrie's favourite thing to talk about, because her life is so hard? I've taken a picture of the 'best' pages which I'll upload if I figure out how to. They talk about how hard fame is due to the lack of privacy. Turns out Luna, although under the pseudonym of Elle J. She's met the bookshop owner, Wendy (for a second time, but with no memory of the first). I'm on chapter 14 and it's making me cringe so much.
